Sample ReportBuilt From Live Records

Seattle Construction Intelligence

A sample PermitScope report for Seattle, generated from live records pulled from the City of Seattle open data portal. Deduplicated projects, values as the source states them, the parties the record names where it names them (and how rarely it names them, measured), and the data quality of the feed measured instead of asserted.

Data as of October 24, 2026. Current cycle: permits issued between September 24 and October 22, 2026, fetched in one pull of 472 records. Report generated from City of Seattle Open Data, Building Permits (dataset 76t5-zqzr), public domain.

This report groups 458 active permits into 441 distinct projects at one site address after absorbing 17 duplicate or companion permit records. Distinct projects, not raw permit counts, is the honest unit in this market. The source permit classes split this cycle as 349 residential and 92 commercial projects, with none unclassified.

How to read this report: Seattle’s record names a contractor on only 8.3 percent of records and has no applicant or owner column at all, so 404 of 441 projects (91.6 percent) name no party and sit in the Class C watchlist. The named-party segment is real but small, and it is concentrated in roof permits, where every project names its roofer. Lead with stated value and recorded scope, not with named parties. Trade figures in this report come only from the hand-audited, corrected Seattle matching rules; only the six audited trades are named.

Trade activity in this cycle

Audited trades only, with the party-naming caveat attached

Counts are projects carrying at least one implied trade under the corrected Seattle rules, hand-audited and re-verified on fresh samples. Roofing 174 (39.5 percent), Painting 172 (39.0 percent), Drywall 168 (38.1 percent), Framing 160 (36.3 percent), Excavation 157 (35.6 percent), Concrete 148 (33.6 percent). 281 projects (63.7 percent) carry at least one implied trade.

Trade matching runs on every project, including the 404 Class C projects that name no party, so Seattle trade volume does not depend on party naming. Other trade labels appear in the data but have not been hand-audited in this market, so they are not marketed by name here. One label is corrected to zero: a landscaping label in the original run came from roofing text (a brand of roof deck material and rooftop deck wording on roof scopes), so no landscaping figure is presented for Seattle.

Territory is ZIP or radius, your choice

ZIP codes are present on 400 of this cycle’s 441 projects, and coordinates join to 440 of 441, so Seattle matching works by the ZIP codes you serve or by distance from the base address you give us. In the launch test, a 5 mile radius around a Wallingford base point covered 313 of the 441 projects in this cycle, and the ZIP pair 98103 and 98112 covered 47. One project this cycle carries neither a ZIP nor coordinates in the record; it appears in citywide counts and in no territory slice.

Valuations are filer-reported construction values, not verified budgets. A permit says work was authorized; it never says a scope is open, a bid is being taken, or a contractor is hiring.

That is the sample. The full Seattle digest cuts this cycle to your trade and your territory, and your first two weekly digests are free when delivery begins.
